Second Coming presentation notes –

In Acts 1:11 Angels told Jesus disciples that Jesus went to heaven and would return from Heaven in the Second Coming.

They used the phrase in “like manner”, in Acts 1:11. A similar phrase is used in Matt 17:12 to indicate that Jesus would die in “like manner” as John Did.

The word used for “in the same manner” in Acts 1:11 is Strong’s #3779.

The same word is used in Matt 17:12 when comparing Jesus’ death to John the Baptist’s death, and it is clear that they died in similar circumstances, but not in “exactly the same manner”.

This shows that in the Greek language, the word numbered 3779 does not always mean in the same exact manner.

A spiritual Second Coming is mentioned and definitely spoken of in the Bible and a physical one is not.

We are warned not to add a physical second Coming concept to the Bible when it is not found within its pages or God will add plagues to those doing this, Rev 22:18-19.

One of these plagues is that of believing a lie or strong delusion in 2 Thess 2:11-12.

God sends Delusion to the Man who sins and derives pleasure from that Sin.

These deluded people are often allowed into the congregation of God’s people as is seen in Lam 1:10 and 2 Peter 2:13.

That deluded condition is brought upon them so that they can be judged and purged of the “wickedness, 2 Thess 2:8 and 2:11.

The wickedness, or elemental things which bind the believer are consumed and melted on the Day of the Lord’s presence, Gal 4:3.

1Co 5:5 To deliver such a one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

These are the Christians that Jesus encouraged us to “come out from among” because they will be judged and the Lord does not want obedient Christians to participate in their plagues, Matt 24:16, Mk 13:14 and Rev 18:4.

Job realized that He was not as righteous as He thought, Job 32:1.

God inquired as to why Job was attempting to “disannul” his judgment in Job 40:6 and Job finally understood that He needed to repent, as is seen in Job 42:6.

Job’s experience is similar to the adversary accusing Job before God, and Job did not agree that this accusation was warranted, He continued to insist that He was right in his relationship with God and that the judgment was unjust, Job 34:5.

Job 40:1 ¶ Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said,
2 Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.
8 Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?

14 Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee.

Job 42:2 I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.
3 Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.
6 Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.

Satan accused Him and He was delivered to God (the judge), and God delivered him to Jesus (the officer), and Jesus sent him to hell (the prison) to be disciplined so that he would not be condemned, Matt 5:25 and 1 Cor 11:32.

Jer 3:13 Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the LORD thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the LORD.

1Jo 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (KJV)

The sequence of events seen in Job is comparable to Jesus telling a Christian to depart’ into the fire prepared for the Devil in Matt 25:41, Mt 7:23,28; 13:40,42; Lu 13:27.

Jesus is the Lion of the tribe of Judah and when He tells a Christian to “Depart from Me”, and sends a believer into the presence of the Devil and His angels for discipline the action appears in scripture to be called “Going into outer darkness”, Matt 8:12, 24:51.

Angels are not subject to death so the fire that was prepared as a place of punishment for them had to be eternal as well.

People can go into and come out of Hell during this physical lifetime, but after physical death, there is a gulf fixed so that we cannot pass in and out of Hell.

Job was not released from the prison (the fire of Hell or the outer darkness {Mt 8:12, 24:51 and 25:30} until He agreed with the adversary that He was guilty of sin, and then He was released from the judgment when He paid the last farthing or Mite, Matt 5:22-26 and Lk 12:59, thereby making recompense.

A gulf is fixed between the righteous and wicked after death but not before, Lk 16:26.

The goats sin willfully – Heb 10:26. Age during contempt in Dan 12:2, Matt 25:46, and John 5:28-29.

Point A – Illustrate that the Second Coming is for salvation Heb 9:28 and unbelievers do not see it. John 14:19 and Matt 23:39.

It is the “Restoration of the Kingdom of God to Spiritual Israel”.

#1 screens Jesus’ Second Coming – Acts 2:37-38 – Acts 3:19-21. The Father and Jesus make their “Abode” with the believer. They serve as the temple of God, John 14:23.

#2 screens – Disciples ask when restoration Acts 1:6 – Disciples question answered in Acts 3:21 – Matt 17:11 – restore all things.

#3 Screens – explanation of restoration referred to in Acts 3:21 – Kingdom of God is righteousness joy etc. seen in Rm 14:17 and it is restored to Spiritual Israel in Rm 9:6.

The Second Coming is the restoration of the kingdom to Spiritual Israel, it was never a restoration to physical Israel because the bible tells us that it is to Abraham’s children of promise (speaking of Issac’s descendants) and the restoration was to the children of promise and not to Ishmael’s descendants, Rm 9:6, Ge 21:12; Ga 4:23; Heb 11:18.

Abraham’s seed is to be recognized through Issac and not Ishmael in Ge 21:12. This is explained in Ga 4:23 and Heb 11:18.

Unbelievers don’t look for Jesus or see His spiritual Second Coming, this concept is similar to Unbelievers seeing Grace, and not receiving it.

Unbelievers don’t look for or see Jesus’ Second coming, they do however see/understand that God’s grace can teach people to deny ungodliness, Titus 2:11-12.

Unbelievers can understand that God will teach people to abstain from ungodly behavior. They are however not enabled to deny ungodly behavior until they accept Christ, because James 4:6 shows us that a person must humble themselves before God and do what He says before they receive his grace and the ability to deny ungodliness.

Illustrated in #4 screens. -Titus 2:11 – James 4:6

In Matthew 24:3 Jesus is asked about his coming.

Mt 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

Jesus answers the question in Matthew 24:28, where He describes the conditions that the disciples are to look for which will indicate his coming.

Mt 24:28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

The “Day of the Lord” describes the Lord’s evaluation point as Paul imitates in 1 Cor 4:21.

1Co 4:21 What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness? (KJV)

Mt 25:32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
Mt 25:33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

Willfully sinful Christians or “goats” do not enter “The kingdom” or Joy They enter the fire, Joel 1:16.

When the bible says that every eye will see the Coming of the Lord it refers to His coming through his enemies Rm 14:11 and Phil 2:11, as is mentioned in Isaiah 19:1.

Ro 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall (Lack of Choice -Strong’s 5784 Active voice) bow to me, and every tongue shall (Choice – 5785 Middle Voice = perform action upon oneself) confess to God.

Do the two differences in “Voice” within the same verse (Active and Middle) indicate Choice in “confession” and the lack of Choice in “Bowing”?

5784 Voice-Active The active voice represents the subject as the doer or performer of the action.

5785 Voice-Middle The middle voice indicates the subject performing an action upon himself (reflexive action) or for his own benefit.

The “bowing” aspect or submission denotes submission but not in a “volitional” sense. This seems to be more in line with “reaping what we sow”.

This conclusion suggests to me that while all people are responsible to God, only those who choose to do so will make confession to Him.

Thus, His judgment is made clear to all people.

Everyone reaps what they sow (Gal:6:7) and God’s wrath is revealed against all ungodliness, Rm 1:18.

As it applies to a Christian the “Day” declares the quality of a Christian’s work 1 Cor 3:13.

Obedient believers or “sheep” will enter the Joy to a greater degree, Matt 25:23 and Rm 14:17.

The “enter the Joy” phrase found in Matt 25:21 illustrates a blameless/forgiven believer entering the Kingdom of God, or the restoration of the Kingdom of God to spiritual Israel, 1 Cor 1:7-8.

1 Co 1:7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:
8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Pass under the Rod (Ez 20:38) means that God will purge Disobedient Children and they will not enter the promised land, Ez 20:18 and 21.

The promised Holy Spirit of righteousness joy and peace is the promised land or Kingdom of God, Rm 14:17.

This is the promised literal righteousness that Paul desired in Philippians 3:9.

Obedient believers enter the kingdom of Joy etc. in Matt 25:21 and 23, but Joy is cut off in the lives of the willfully sinful believers or goats, Joel 1:16.

Joe 1:15 Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.
16 Is not the meat cut off before our eyes, yea, joy and gladness from the house of our God?
