Behold the Lord

Every person who confesses that Jesus is Lord is being saved, Rm 10:13.

Ro 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Lu 13:23 ¶ Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them,

Lu 13:24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

God’s grace teaches us to be saved when we humble ourselves before Him (James 4:6), and we need His gracious teaching to learn to deny ungodliness.

Jas 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

Tit 2:11 ¶ For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

All people can see that God can transform them into a Godly person Titus 2:11-12.

If a person humbles themselves before God they receive this grace and can look forward to being enabled to deny ungodliness, James 4:6.

There is a difference simply between “being able to see the Grace of God”, and personally “receiving the Grace of God”.

The people who receive God’s grace can also look forward to seeing the Glory of Jesus, Titus 2:13.

Tit 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

Many people, however, will want to be saved but refuse to humble themselves before God and do what He says so that He can teach them through grace to deny ungodliness and enter the Kingdom.

These are Christians who will be saved through fire.

They will say Lord Lord didn’t we do this right?

Lu 13:28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.

Also in the Gospel of Matthew.

Matt 7:21 Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Jesus is asked about being saved and His answer is to strive to enter the kingdom of God.

People are saved (from God’s wrath against ungodliness, Rm 1:18) by God’s grace which teaches them to deny ungodliness and do the Father’s will, Eph 2:8.

Ro 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
(KJV)

The Bible tells that us “believing” is the work that God wants us to do, John 6:28-29.

John 6:28 ¶ Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

That is because we need faith to please God (Heb 11:6) and access His grace.

Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

This is because we can access God’s grace only through having faith in Jesus. Then His grace can teach us to do His will.

God’s gift of Grace teaches us to deny ungodliness and we access that gift by having faith in Jesus.

So we must maintain faith in all situations, even when we are being “saved through fire”, because God is teaching us through discipline, to behave in a Godly manner.
